Why do you run?

It’s an awesome feeling, mentally and physically!  I love the people I meet and pace while I am running!

Describe your best marathon memory.

I will never forget running with my son in his 1st marathon in San Diego.  He had not trained for it and still went out and ran it with me, with just a 10 mile training run. I stayed with him the whole way, and he finished in 4:31! That is a day I will never forget!

Why do you pace?

Pacing is my passion! I love sharing my knowledge of running with others.  It is the greatest feeling to help someone across the finish line, whether it is for a PR, BQ or very first time in a marathon.

Tell us your best pacing experience.

Qualifying Miriam for Boston when I was pacing the 4:00 group in Little Rock, AR.  She introduced herself at the beginning of the race and said it was her dream to go to Boston.  Her husband followed her along the way at different spots on the course with “Boston or Bust” signs!  I will never forget her face at the finish line.  I felt like I had just PR’d myself J

Why should someone run in your pace group?

If you run in my pace group, I promise you a fun experience! I will motivate and cheer you on the whole 26.2 miles.  I am enthusiastic and will energize your run.  I will help you let the miles fly right by!

Any tips for runners about to join your group?

If you are going to join my group, I will explain everything I am going to do at the beginning.  It is best to stay with me so you don’t start off too fast, and also make sure you hydrate all along the way.

Anything else you’d like to share?

We dedicate each mile to someone during the marathon.  It is a good bonding time with me and my group and each other in the group.  Once I meet you, I will never forget y ou!

What philanthropic activities do you have?

I coordinate Kids of Steel Marathon Program;  I am on the Wellness Committee; I coordinate the Jump Rope for Heart and Hoops for Heart Events, raising money for the American Heart Association; and I also coordinate the Local Punt, Pass and Kick Event and the Pitch, Hit and Run Event!
