Why do you run?
I'm an overachiever, but exercise and fitness have never been my main focus. However, I love cosplay and Disney, so when I discovered RunDisney, it became the perfect way to combine fitness with two things I already enjoyed. In 2022, I completed a 5K during Princess Weekend at Disney. While there, I saw runners proudly displaying their medals from the other races that weekend, and my overachieving nature kicked in—I wanted that too! So, I signed up for the next Fairytale Challenge (a 10K and Half Marathon) and worked my way up from the couch to a half marathon. That first half marathon was incredibly challenging; I was undertrained, and the last 2 miles were tough, but I pushed through and finished! After that, I knew I wanted to do it again, but this time, my goal was to have fun and take the time to stop at all the character stations along the way. Now, I train hard so I can enjoy the race, laugh, dance, and take pictures without worrying about the cutoff time or the infamous Balloon Ladies. |

My husband, my friend Liz, and I all dressed as Tumble Monkeys from The Lion King and completed the 10-Miler at Disney’s Springtime Surprise Weekend. We had an absolute blast, dancing like monkeys for 10 miles and throwing in random "ooo ah ah" monkey sounds along the race route. It felt like we were parade entertainment for all the other participants, and we received so much love and enthusiasm from everyone on the course.

Why do you pace?
The back of the pack is where people are truly crushing their goals and fighting hard to complete the race, yet they often receive the least support. I’ve participated in races where the water stations or cheer stations were closed by the time we reached them, or even where they ran out of medals for those finishing at the end. I believe we can do better for us back-of-the-pack runners, so I pace to be a cheerleader and help others achieve their goals.

Tell us your best pacing experience.

I’ve only ever been an unofficial pacer, but as a runner who dresses up for every race—Disney or not—I tend to attract a group on the course. During a 5K at a local Miami airport, I dressed as Buzz Lightyear and ended up with a squad of about five people who decided they wanted to keep up with me. So, I gave them all honorary space cadet titles, and we had a blast flying down the tarmac like complete dorks. |

Why should someone run in your pace group?
If you want to finish the race strong and enjoy some laughs along the way, join me at the 16-minute mile pace. |
Any tips for runners about to join your group?
No matter what pace you run, remember that you are someone else’s goal! Be proud of what you've accomplished to get to the race and enjoy the journey. |
