A quotation you like…

“Repetitio mater studiorum est”

Why do you run?

I run because it allows me to clear my mind and it nourishes my soul. I also really enjoy being outside in nature and running allows me to absorb so much.

Describe your best marathon memory.

My favorite racing memory is from a race where I was running with a woman named Mariel and we were racing the last quarter of this race. The entire race she and I were leap-frogging between first and second and when she passed me the final time I wished her the best and looked at me and told me, “It’s all heart from here.” And I hung onto that and it pushed me to not give up in the last quarter of the race. I might not have much strength and everything might hurt, but I have the heart to finish – and I did. I got a huge PR that day.

Why do you pace?

I love to pace for a few reasons and sometimes I feel like I get out of it more than my pace groups do. I love helping people accomplish their goals and, in general, I love sharing my love of running with others.

Tell us your best pacing experience.

My best pacing experience was a personal one  - during the pandemic, I paced a friend running a self-supported 100 miler in Prospect Park. All of us were trying to find meaning in a new version of the world we were living in and it was inspiring to see the community come together to support our teammate to achieve this goal when everything felt impossible. Seeing her go through some dark moments and overcome them inspired me to pursue the same.

Why should someone run in your pace group?

I love taking care of you! I make sure I lead a light conversation, I keep your mind focused on the running, but distracted from the pain of the marathon or half marathon. I’ll tell you stories, mantras, and guide you on how to tackle hills. I will instruct you to float the downhills and find your breath. I will encourage you to do the best that you can and I will be your biggest cheerleader!

Any tips for runners about to join your group?

Yes! Feel free to ask me anything and talk to me. I can help you troubleshoot!

Anything else you’d like to share?

I’m also an RRCA Level 1 certified running coach and I would love to answer any of your questions when we run. Ask me anything J

What philanthropic activities do you have?

I volunteer my time with my local running club and at my children’s school as a class lead.
