A quotation you like…

Don’t Be WEAK!

Why do you run?

There are many reasons that I ran, the peace and quiet in the morning, a quick way to tour a new city, catching up with friends, decompress from a long day at work, but mainly running made me realize I am not a nerd, but a bad A$$!

Describe your best marathon memory.

My best marathon memory was actually from 2015 Chicago Marathon, when I was sidelined from an injury but decided to volunteer at aid-station.  I remembered watching the elite group flew by like feathers, and the last group of runners with the cleaning crew just few feet behind them.  They both inspired me and made me realized running is the only sports that it really doesn’t matter if you are fast or slow.  But what matter is you try and give your best!

Why do you pace?

To help and motivate other to reach their goals like many have done for me!

Tell us your best pacing experience.

I believe it was 2012 or 2013 Fox Valley Marathon, I was running with pacer Bob, I was amazed to listen to all the stories from his 90+ plus marathons while still be able to lock on a solid 9:09 like clock work.  And he let me carried the flag for 2-3 miles.  I had the taste of “power” and decided one day I want to be like pacer Bob.

Why should someone run in your pace group?

I am fun, I am loud, and I care!  Physically I am confident that I have what it takes to lead the group to the promise land.  Mentally I am one tough nut and will never let anyone quit.  I can and will be your BFF at mile 23!  Did I mention that I am fun and loud?

Any tips for runners about to join your group?

Trust your training!  Run Smart, Run Relaxed, Run Hard.  NEVER start out FAST!

Anything else you’d like to share?

Where do I begin?  I am Chinese immigrant moved here in 1990, if you haven’t noticed the accent.  I tried out for American Ninja Warrior!  I have my own FB running group!  Wait, who doesn’t?  Oh yeah, ask me about the push up incident.

What philanthropic activities do you have?

Besides pacing for the GER and occasional volunteer work at races, I haven’t really done many other philanthropic activities.  That’s probably another reason that I like to be a pacer so I can give something back to a sports that has given me a lot!
