Why do you run?

It stabilizes the non-active world we live in.

Describe your best marathon memory.

At Mt. Mitchell Challenge when someone caught me after I was in first for a long time and told me I should pace better. So I caught him and put 4 minutes on him in the last 2 miles. The race was 40 miles.

Why do you pace?

I love supporting the running community and helping people find a deeper place within themselves they have not been to before. A Pain Cave as it were.

Tell us your best pacing experience.

Pacing one of my best friends at Western States 100. He hit a rough patch and threw up a lot around 40 miles. We got through together and cried together as he finished. Close third to marrying my wife, our son being born. I cried a lot.

Why should someone run in your pace group?

I think a blonde kid that grew up in East Africa at the base of Mt. Kilimanjaro is pretty interesting.

Any tips for runners about to join your group?

I am going to run the pace. Stay with me if you want to run the time I am pacing.

Anything else you’d like to share?
