A quotation you like…

I love the way Fred LeBow puts racing into prospective: “In running, it doesn't matter if you come in first, in the middle of the pack, or last; you can say ‘i have finished’ and there is satisfaction in that!”

I also like a saying i saw on a state track meet shirt: “If you can’t win, make the person in front of you break the record!”

Why do you run?

to stay in shape, as a hobby, and to keep my sanity

Describe your best marathon memory.

My best memory will always be the feeling of when i set my last PR.

Why do you pace?

I love to run marathons, and i want to spread that joy to others.  I absolutely love seeing a runner cross the marathon finish line for the first time.

Tell us your best pacing experience.

My best pacing experience was when i helped a man finish two seconds under the six hour cut off.  It was his very first marathon and he barely squeeked in under the wire!

Why should someone run in your pace group?

I am fun to run with… I will do my best to keep you laughing and stay relaxed so you can break through that wall at mile 20-23.

Any tips for runners about to join your group?

You know the training that you put in. If you are nervous, it is a good thing, and you will do just fine.  If this is your first marathon, listen to advice from veteran marathoners.  Also if this is your first marathon, have fun! DO NOT worry about your time, if you have fun there will be many marathons in your future to worry about setting a fast PR.  If you do not have any fun, you will never want to run another marathon again.

Anything else you’d like to share?

One of my marathons i voluntarily carried a 35 pound back pack.  I am also training to set a world record of the fastest half marathon in football pads.

What philanthropic activities do you have?

I work at the salvation army where I work with people in drug rehabilitation.  I also coach my running clubs youth cross country and track teams.
