A quotation you like…

“Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.” Mike Tyson

Why do you run?

Improved Fitness, social activity, personal enjoyment, love of the outdoors, and I like to go fast.

Describe your best marathon memory.

Finishing in 3rd place at the 2012 Arkansas Traveller 100 mile endurance run.  Totally exceeded my own expectations, and had one of the most exhilarating 20 hours of my entire life.

Why do you pace?

It’s a lot more fun than trying to run fast.  Helping someone accomplish a goal as special as hitting a time, qualifying for Boston or finishing their first marathon is a special experience.  I find it very rewarding.

Tell us your best pacing experience.

I helped an older gentlemen running in his first marathon qualify for the Boston Marathon.  At the end of the event he sought me out after the race in tears and gave me a “real” hug.  It was one of the most gratifying moments of my running career.

Why should someone run in your pace group?

I will get you there, period. There ain’t no more to it.  Oh, and I am funny.

Any tips for runners about to join your group?

Be confident in your training you just completed, enjoy the experience and relax.

Anything else you’d like to share?

Just that I genuinely appreciate the opportunity to help others in their journey.  It is an honor to go on it with them, and I do not take it lightly.

What philanthropic activities do you have?

I volunteer at local races when not participating, I help with the local ½ marathon training program, working out with the group each Saturday for 3 months, and I pace at many regional races here in the Midwest (OKC, St. Jude, LR, Arkansas White River).
