Why do you run?

It makes me feel good!  It’s a time when I can unplug and think.  It is a sport you can do anywhere!

Describe your best marathon memory.

Running the Kiawah Island marathon after coming off an injury and not quite enough training as a result of that injury, and PR-ing by 7 minutes.  I also met

Why do you pace?

To help others enjoy and succeed in the amazing and trying experience that is endurance running.

Why should someone run in your pace group?

I have exactly 4 hilarious jokes that will be doled out strategically when you need them most.

Any tips for runners about to join your group?

I’m open to any and all constructive feedback you may have--other than my shorts are too short!

Also, you should run the race you trained for!  Don’t run with the 7:15 pace group when you trained to run a 7:45 (been there, done that, no fun).

Anything else you’d like to share?

The first endurance race I signed up for was a 50k right after college.  My then-girlfriend (now wife) said I was crazy to sign up for a 50k when I hadn’t even run a marathon before.  She had a point, so I signed up for a marathon the month before to 50k.  She said that wasn’t her point…

What philanthropic activities do you have?

I donate regularly to the United Way and other charities, volunteer in my community, coach HS Ultimate Frisbee, and volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America.
