Personal goals

This year I am competing in Quebrantahuesos cycling event in Europe but my **deeper** personal goal is to understand myself better each day and become the best possible version of myself in this lifetime.

A quotation you like…

I will always believe something extraordinary is possible” (My own quote modified from “A Beautiful Mind”) and “I don't need easy, I just need possible.” — Bethany Hamilton

Why do you run?

Because I can. My former C6 quadriplegic patient made me realize that when I ran my first marathon in 1997. I never forgot that, nor did I ever forget him.

Describe your best marathon memory.

My father and mother waiting for me at the finish line of the 2003 NYC Marathon: my dad was screaming in Spanish for me to “Go! GO! GO!” (“Ándale! Ándale! ÁNDALE!”) while my mom was holding him back saying “Take it easy mi hijita, do not hurt yourself!” 😂. So reflective of their contradictory parenting approaches. 🙄

Why do you pace?

To give back to the sport that has given me so much and help others achieve their goals.

Tell us your best pacing experience.

Watching the people I paced reach the finish line achieving their goal.

Why should someone run in your pace group?

In addition to my knowledge of this sport and human Physiology as a healthcare provider, and in addition to me consitently demonstrating in my own races well executed race paces a successful marathon and have run marathons successfully for over half of my life, I have competed as a semi professional Ironman international triathlete with over 7 sponsorships

Any tips for runners about to join your group?

Running smart is more important than running fast and how you finish is just as if not more important as how you started.
