A quotation you like…

Success depends almost entirely on how effectively you learn to manage your two ultimate adversaries: the course and yourself.  –Jack Nicklaus

Why do you run?

I run to clear my mind, to stay fit, to meet new people and to live one more day.

Describe your best marathon memory.

My best marathon memory was running the Boston marathon in 2014.  I finished Boston in 2013 as well, which contributed to the emotions of running in 2014.  At the start of the race, there was a group of military helicopters that flew over and then the national anthem played.  It was a very special moment which included everything from mourning to celebration of the Boston marathon and the events which had led to this special day.

Why do you pace?

I like to pace runners simply because I enjoy setting goals and achieving them.  Pacing allows me to help other people try and obtain their goals, which is special to be a part of.

Tell us your best pacing experience.

In 2012, I paced the Capitol City River Run in Lansing, Michigan.  After the race a gentleman in our pace group came up to tell me thank-you.  He then explained to me that he was running in honor of his wife who was currently battling breast cancer.  He said he achieved a personal best time that day and he knew his wife would be very proud of him!!

Why should someone run in your pace group?

You should run in my pace group if you want to have a good time.  I want to help you meet your goals while also enjoying the race.

Any tips for runners about to join your group?

Do not take yourself too seriously.  We will work together to keep our pace and achieve our goals.

Anything else you’d like to share?

I love to play golf, and I will plan to play 18 holes the day after the race if anyone cares to join me.

What philanthropic activities do you have?

I like to teach golf lessons and my future goal is to organize a charity kids golf camp.
