Why do you run?

I run because it keeps me happy mentally.  I was a cross country runner in high school.  I felt back then like I HAD to run. I don’t like being told what I HAVE to do or what I SHOULDN’T do.  I injured myself and had ankle replacement surgery in 2006. I was told I should never run more than 2 miles at a time.  Again, I didn’t like being told what I shouldn’t do.  I started running again, and since 2006 I have run in countless 5k/10ks, 11 Half Marathons, 4 Marathons and one Ultra 46 mile race.

Describe your best marathon memory.

Miami Marathon 2016 brought the best memory.  At mile 23 I was sure I would make my sub 4 hour goal so I started to have fun with the crowd and supporters for the last three miles. I felt great and smiled the entire last 3 miles.  I fought off tears of joy and just enjoyed the feeling of accomplishing a goal.

Why do you pace?

I feel it is more rewarding to help others to their goals than it is to accomplish my own.  I love to talk and may talk your ear off through a half marathon.

Tell us your best pacing experience.

In 2015 I paced the Miami Marathon.  Watching my runners finish was very rewarding.

Why should someone run in your pace group?

Because I will talk to you and help you keep your mind off the difficulties racing brings. Pure entertainment.

Any tips for runners about to join your group?

Be ready to have fun.
