A quotation you like…

Why do you run?

I like being outdoors and running keeps me fit.  Also, the long training runs make a great “thinking time”.

Describe your best marathon memory.

The great crowds at the Boston Marathon.

Why do you pace?

I like motivating others and helping them achieve their goals.  It’s also fun to meet others from around the country/world and share in their experience.

Tell us your best pacing experience.

While pacing for a half-marathon I had one runner in my group who came up to me before the start and told me about how hard he’d been training and really wanted to make his goal.  We ran together the entire race, talking and keeping the motivation going.  The runner was elated to make his long time goal and it was great to be part of his experience.

Why should someone run in your pace group?

I’ll make the race experience fun and the pace will be steady and right on the plan!

Any tips for runners about to join your group?

In addition to planning your timing for the run, you should also plan out your nutrition (food and liquids) for the entire run.  Many runners overlook the nutrition aspect of long races.  I’ll help remind you about nutrition as we’re running together.

Anything else you’d like to share?

I used to do a lot of alpine climbing which I think helps with the mental aspects of distance running.

What philanthropic activities do you have?

I volunteer to help at numerous sporting events in my community.
