From Henry Ford: ”Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goal”

Why do you run?

For the enjoyment, for the social involvement, for the exercise, and to test my abilities.

Describe your best marathon memory.

Running the Boston Marathon along with my father. It was his 18th and my 1st.

Why do you pace?

There is more enjoyment in seeing others succeed than in succeeding myself .I also enjoy being part of the event, and meeting new people.

Tell us your best pacing experience.

Getting a big hug from someone who qualified for Boston. Seeing people cry at the finish line after accomplishing their goals.

Why should someone run in your pace group?

Because it will be fun! Running with me gives you the greatest chance of achieving your goals.

Any tips for runners about to join your group?

Don’t be shy. Introduce yourself to your pacer. Ask questions.  Introduce yourself to the other runners around you. You just might make a friend for life.

I am a board member of the Southern Arizona Roadrunners (the largest club in Arizona). I also direct two races each year, which raise money for handicapped athletics to improve children’s fitness. And I volunteer at many local races and have been a race official at college track meets.
