A quotation you like…

Run when you can, walk if you have to, crawl if you must; just never give up. [Dean Karnazes]

Why do you run?

Physical fitness, meeting personal goals, staying active, being chased by a bear.

Describe your best marathon memory.

Tough to answer but would have to say my first….Glass City Marathon in Toledo, OH.  It’s the one that you prove to yourself “yes….you can do this”.

Why do you pace?

To help any runner meet their goal pace, no matter what it is.  A pacer has helped me in the past, so it’s time to pay it forward.

Tell us your best pacing experience.

Pacing a friend to an overall female victory in a 100 mile ultramarathon.

Why should someone run in your pace group?

Well the obvious answer is because they want to finish near the time I’m pacing.  If they don’t, it’s because they laughed too hard at my jokes or had to visit a porta-potty.  But in all seriousness, because of my good looks.

Any tips for runners about to join your group?

Listen to music if you can’t laugh and run at the same time.

Anything else you’d like to share?

I was a short distance runner in high school, and then didn’t run again until I was 45 (purposely gave my knees a 27 year break).  I ran my first half marathon completely untrained wearing my son’s shoes as a blind date in 2017.  That day changed my life.  The race, not the date.  Five years, 45 halfs, 6 fulls, and 2 ultras later, I just keep telling myself….”I can, I will.”  I prefer the 13.1 distance, but will run 26.2 to meet personal goals.

What philanthropic activities do you have?

Ummm, I’m working on that one.  Kinda.
