A quotation you like…

We [run]  together, the mountain and me,

until only the mountain remains.

Why do you run?

Running is simple and makes sense.

Describe your best marathon memory.

My best memory was as a spectator – Meb Keflezighi running into Cleveland Circle with a 200m lead that I didn’t think he could hold.

Why do you pace?

To help other people believe they can meet their goals.  I’ve been running within seconds of a goal, late in the marathon, my eyes glued to the back of a pacer.

Tell us your best pacing experience.

After the finish, watching people celebrate new PRs.

Why should someone run in your pace group?

I try to plan a good strategy for the race, and take most of the work when running into a head wind.

Any tips for runners about to join your group?

Don’t try anything new on race day.  Settle into a comfortable pace by mile 2.  Don’t expend any extra energy – save it for mile 22.

Anything else you’d like to share?

Race day is like Christmas – the payoff after long anticipation.

What philanthropic activities do you have?

I volunteer at a weekly dinner for medical students in Galveston.
