Personal goals

To PR at the next race that I am not pacing.

Why do you run?

To stay fit and for the social aspect - we laugh a lot out there.  It is also “my time” in the day, no interruptions.  I love to watch the sunrise on an early morning run.

Describe your best marathon memory.

Finishing my first marathon (Richmond VA); I was hooked after that

Why do you pace?

I like the personal satisfaction from helping others achieve their goals.  It also gives me a chance to see new venues.

Tell us your best pacing experience.

Pittsburgh Marathon 2008, where I helped several people complete their first marathon AND came within 3 seconds of a perfect finish.

Why should someone run in your pace group?

We work together - - there is strength in numbers!  Also, there is often plenty of conversation which can make the miles pass more quickly.  I use my pace sign to prod lagging runners (just kidding).  I will lock in the pace early on and take that burden off of you, and get you to the finish line on time.

Any tips for runners about to join your group?

Don’t be shy, jump in and introduce yourself and tell me your goal for the day.

Anything else you'd like to share?

I signed up for my first marathon after discussing it over lots (and lots) of wine at a wedding.  I ran my first marathon at age 40.
