Why do you run? |
Running is what keeps me sane! It works me over physically and mentally as I sweat it out. It also allows me to eat more or less whatever I want. |
Describe your best marathon memory. |
While running the Chicago Marathon in 2001 with one of my girlfriends we ran a 3:36. It was her first marathon and my 3rd. We ran a negative split and felt great afterward. While sitting at dinner that night she said that she was ready to walk at mile 22 but kept going because she didn't want to let me down. We ran Boston together the following spring. |
Why do you pace? |
For the awesome people that I get to meet along the way. |
Tell us your best pacing experience. |
Too many to just name one! After pacing Shamrock Marathon we had a few people that asked us to stick around and get our picture taken with them, they had run a PR. While pacing the new Stillwater Marathon I was encouraging some folks to finish strong. Their response was "No, you got us this far, we're sticking with you!" Awesome! |
Why should someone run in your pace group? |
I NEVER shut up! I was a prison guard for 5 years, I have some great stories to keep your mind off what you're doing. I will encourage you and give you pointers the entire way. I won't let you go out too fast. I will be your personal cheerleader for 26.2 miles! You will know your fellow runners quite well by the time we're done. You'll make many friends along the way. |
Any tips for runners about to join your group? |
Run as you trained...sleep, eat, fuel as you've done on long runs. Don't go out to fast. Don't wear anything new. Wear sun-block all the time. Most of all have fun or don't do it! |
Anything else you’d like to share? |
I'm only out there because you're out there! So thank you for being a runner! |
